Should You Buy the DJI Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4? via @mightyskins

Should You Buy the DJI Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4?

When it comes to deciding whether you should buy the DJI Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4, there are a few specs you need to consider about each product and what they have to offer. The details are apparent when it comes to the difference between these two drones.

Things like the camera, the processor, and more will determine which product is right for you and your needs. In this post, we will look at a few of the differences between the two products to help you determine whether the Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4 is the right drone for you.

Field of View Specs:

When shooting outdoor shots with wide spaces, the field of view (FOV) is an important concept that needs to be addressed. The Phantom 4 has a wide FOV, which looks as though the shots were taken when a 24mm camera lens.

The Mavic Pro has a smaller FOV that looks as though it was taken with a 28mm camera lens (much smaller than the Phantom 4). However, the Mavic Pro stands out due to the adjusting camera on the drone; you can hover the drone and point the camera up. The only downfall is that moving faster causes the camera to droop in flight.

Performance in Low Light:

Since these two drones focus on shooting photographs, one of the things you need to consider is their performance in low lighting situations. While the Mavic Pro does have the ability to shoot photos in low light, the ISO is only 3200 at the max, giving you less than perfect low light shots. The Phantom 4, however, has a max ISO of 6400, giving you better shots in low light. It is not as good as some of the cameras out there, but the Phantom still outshines the Mavic Pro regarding low lighting.

Camera Focus:

The focus of your camera is vital for getting high-grade shots. Both the Phantom 4 and the Mavic Pro are lacking a bit in fixed-focus, which means any image you snap must rely on you tapping the photo that you want to be in focus; this is done with the DJI Go application.

However, adjustable focuses can be useful when you focus on subjects that are closer while keeping the background just a bit out of focus; this will also make the photo appear sharper, but remembering to do it can sometimes be difficult.

Conclusion

Choosing the right drone for videography and photography can be difficult, especially when faced with two tough decisions like the DJI Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4 drones. It is crucial to consider the various functions of each camera, especially if you choose to use your drone strictly for photography or videography.

Things like the field of view, the focus, and the low light performance are essential to ensure that you get professional and high-quality photographs and videos. Both of these drones are spectacular in many different ways, and choosing the right one for you will be determined by your needs and wants.

Drone Visible When Flying - Prevent Flyaways

This is How to Make Sure Your Drone is Always Visible When Flying

What can you do to prevent drone flyaways?

Before you ever fly a drone, it’s important to inform yourself about the rules and precautions necessary to have a safe, exhilarating experience. In some cases, you may even be required to have a license in order to fly (Check the FAA website for more information about what to do in your personal situation). So, follow the rules, have fun, and keep your drone in your line of vision.

Never lose sight of your quadcopter again.

MightySkins now has an entire line of drone skins for several different models. While we don’t usually like to toot our own horn, these skins excite us because they serve a dual purpose. Besides providing you with unlimited customization, a drone skin can solve a major problem you’re likely up against when flying long distances.

While drones are one of the top technological advancements of our time, let’s face it — they’re not perfect — sometimes they escape. There’s not much you can do to prevent flyaways (or losing your machine because you went against the grain and soared out of your own sight on purpose). Take your drone as far as possible without losing sight by adding a splash of color. Our new quadcopter drone skins make it easier to see when flying long distances.

While adding a splash of color is fun, it’s a good idea to take every possible precaution to prevent crashes. Afterall, quadcopters don’t grow on trees. Here’s what else you can do to prevent drone flyaways:

  1. Set your battery correctly to optimize aerodynamicsDrone assembly is a crucial skill to master; f the battery falls out, you could lose power in-flight and that will definitely cause a crash.
  2. Avoid flying near power lines. If you hit a power line, it could ruin your electronics, cause an explosion or a crash.
  3. Regularly calibrate your compass and GPS. If not, your drone won’t know which direction it’s going.
  4. Maintain manufacturer-recommended altitude when flying. This ensures that your radios stay connected.
  5. Don’t set your home point next to buildings. When it comes time to land, doing so could cause your machine to land on top of the building or, worse yet, crash on the edge.
